The Journey to Pointe
Beginning pointe work is an exciting time for ballet dancers and an important milestone in a dancer's training. As each dancer is on their own dance journey, their readiness to begin pointe training can occur at different ages and at varying years of ballet experience.
Transitioning to pointe work places significant new demands on the body. At our clinic, we offer specialized pre-pointe physiotherapy assessments to ensure dancers have the strength, flexibility, alignment, and control needed to safely progress onto pointe shoes.
By identifying and addressing any weaknesses or imbalances early, we can help prevent injuries and set them up for success—so they can enjoy dancing on pointe with confidence and less risk of pain or setbacks.
Pre-Pointe Physiotherapy Assessments
A team approach is essential for beginning pointe work. Dance teachers provide essential insights on a dancer’s technique and training tolerance in class. The physiotherapist determines a student’s biomechanical readiness for pointe to prevent injury and to maximize success en pointe.
