What Is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a regulated health profession focused on assessing and treating musculoskeletal conditions, restoring movement, and reducing the risk of re-injury. It is commonly sought for sports injuries, workplace injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic pain, and conditions affecting mobility and function.
At Versa Movement Collective, physiotherapy is the foundation of everything we do. Whether you are recovering from an acute injury, managing a longer-term issue, or returning to sport after surgery, treatment at Versa is built around a thorough assessment, a clear clinical rationale, and a progressive plan designed to get you back to full activity.
We also see patients with motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims and Workers Compensation Board of Alberta (WCB) referrals.
How We Approach Physiotherapy at Versa Movement Collective
Versa is an exercise-based physiotherapy clinic. More than half of our clinic space is a working gym, and that reflects our clinical philosophy: the most effective path to lasting recovery runs through progressive, well-programmed movement, not passive treatment alone.
Our practitioners hold specialized training in areas including running gait analysis, golf physiotherapy, vestibular physiotherapy, and pre-pointe assessment for dancers, and all of our physiotherapists hold dry needling certification. Dry needling is commonly requested by patients and is incorporated into treatment plans where clinically appropriate.
This depth of specialization means we can address not just the presenting injury, but the movement patterns and contributing factors that led to it, and that are most likely to lead to recurrence.

What Physiotherapy at Versa Can Help You Achieve
- Restored movement and reduced pain, with a clear understanding of what caused the issue and how to prevent recurrence.
- A progressive return to your sport, training, or daily activity, structured around what you are actually trying to get back to.
- Improved baseline strength and resilience, so the risk of re-injury is lower than it was before treatment began.

Frequently Asked Questions About Physiotherapy in Calgary
No. Physiotherapists in Alberta are primary contact practitioners, meaning you can book directly without a physician referral. Some extended health benefit plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so it is worth confirming with your insurer before your first visit.
Yes. Versa accepts patients with motor vehicle accident claims and Workers Compensation Board of Alberta (WCB) referrals. We do not hold an AHS contract for publicly funded post-surgical physiotherapy visits, so patients who have had private joint replacement surgery and are seeking one-on-one rehabilitation are also well-suited to our clinic.
It means that exercise prescription is central to every treatment plan, rather than passive modalities. More than half of our clinic space is a gym, and sessions are structured around progressive movement work alongside hands-on treatment. Patients leave each visit with a clear, video-linked home program to follow between appointments.
Yes. All practitioners at Versa hold dry needling certification. If dry needling is appropriate for your condition, it will be discussed as part of your treatment plan.
